LIID at the National Urban Forum in Vranje
At the National Urban Forum, the LIID project was presented as a key instrument for strengthening the capacities of local governments in planning and delivering sustainable infrastructure investments. Particular emphasis was placed on its contribution to improving urban mobility, enhancing public spaces, and reinforcing institutional capacities at the local level. Through its participation, LIID reaffirmed its role in supporting the modernization of local infrastructure and aligning urban development with contemporary principles of sustainability, inclusiveness, and resilience.
The National Urban Forum, held in Vranje on 23–24 April 2026, is one of the leading events dedicated to urban policy development in the Republic of Serbia. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, and the Agency for Spatial Planning and Urbanism of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of international partners.
The Forum serves as a key platform for knowledge exchange, stakeholder coordination, and dialogue in the field of urban development. This year’s edition, titled “Housing in the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,” focused on improving quality of life in urban areas through an integrated approach that brings together social, economic, and environmental dimensions of development.
Through plenary and thematic sessions, participants addressed key challenges and explored solutions for sustainable urban development, while also reviewing progress in the implementation of national strategic frameworks. The Forum provided a valuable opportunity for networking with domestic and international partners, as well as for advancing approaches to urban planning and development in Serbia.
