The goal of the LIID Project is to strengthen the capacity of local self-governments (municipalities) in Serbia through the improvement of infrastructure and institutional reforms. The World Bank is an international financial institution that provides loans and grants to support global development and poverty reduction.

The World Bank has one of the key roles in the LIID Project implementation process. In addition to financial support, it influences capacity building for better management of public investments by engaging its world-renowned experts who provide technical expertise to the ministry and local authorities. Furthermore, the World Bank monitors the implementation of the Project to ensure that the goals are achieved and the results are adequately evaluated, which contributes to the long-term sustainability and development of local communities.

The World Bank is financing the implementation of the LIID project with 33% of the total secured funds.

Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is a financial institution that supports the sustainable development and improvement of the living standards of the population around the world.

Focusing on sustainable development, within the framework of the LIID Project, AFD helps implement solutions that are environmentally responsible, socially inclusive and economically sustainable, in accordance with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. This comprehensive support contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of the local population and the functioning of the local administration. AFD finances the implementation of the LIID Project with 67% of the total funds provided.
