1.1 Million Euros for the Implementation of the LIID Project in Vrbas
Representatives of the Public Enterprise LIID visited the municipality of Vrbas, to which the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has allocated 1.1 million Euros for the improvement of local infrastructure and strengthening of institutional capacities. These funds were allocated within the framework of the LIID project, which the Ministry is implementing in cooperation with the French Development Agency and the World Bank.
By the end of 2028, the municipality of Vrbas has the opportunity to use the funds received for the implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at establishing green and sustainable transport, as well as improving traffic safety and efficiency.
During the meeting with representatives of the JUP LIID, the mayor of the municipality, Milan Glušac, and his team presented several creative proposals. A detailed analysis of these proposals will follow in the coming period, after which an investment decision will be made and the preparation of project and technical documentation will begin.
The JUP LIID delegation consisted of Aleksandar Radovanović, specialist in institutional development and policies and coordinator of the LIID project, Ivan Ivanović, traffic expert of the World Bank, Igor Miščević, urban planning expert of the World Bank, Maša Mileusnić from the LIID Project Implementation Unit in charge of citizen engagement, Matje Voasan, transport and mobility expert of the French Development Agency.
The total value of the LIID project is 265.2 million euros, and 145 local self-government units will receive funds in the form of a grant that they will be able to use for projects of rehabilitation and reconstruction of traffic infrastructure, construction of pedestrian crossings, bicycle paths or spaces for public transport, increasing the resistance of traffic infrastructure to climate change, greening of public areas, development of smart city systems and sustainable urban mobility, preparation of planning documents and development of institutional and personnel capacities of local self-government units.
The implementation of the project will last until November 30, 2028.
